Intensive – Summer School 2010

Are you looking for a week’s intensive Dutch course?

Then please join us in the week of 23 to 27 August 2010 for a week of Summer School.

Due to the success of the Summer School weeks in June and July 2010 we are offering an additional week’s intensive in August.

Our school is based in the center of Amsterdam just off the River Amstel. What better place to learn the Dutch language and culture than in the heart of Amsterdam? The classes are kept small (max. 9 students). Each program runs for 5 days. There is a minimum of 4 students per course. Please note that the course will not be viable with less than 4 students enrolled. You will be kept notified of any changes. During the last 6 years the Summer School weeks have been well attended. In the event of a particular course not running due to lack of applicants then you will either be offered a different course or your payment will be refunded.

Summer School Pre-Intermediate Dutch Program

In the pre-intermediate summer school program we focus on a review of the present tense and its various functions. We then proceed with a proper grounding in the two most important forms of the past tense in Dutch. We build on that by working with a variety of questionnaires in which we gather information about each other’s past. For these particular speaking activities we work in pairs. We also work with visual aids such as photos and collage in order to elicit Dutch sentences, and practice the various language structures. The idea of the summer school is that you work in the morning classes, and process what you’ve learnt in the afternoon and evening with some homework for the next day. With the historical center of Amsterdam literally on our doorstep, there are plenty of opportunities to put the Dutch language you have learnt into practice. A Summer School week at Dutch & Such is always a really productive and fun way of getting to know the Dutch language and culture. In the process we have a lot of fun as a group. Invariably we may end the week on a ‘terrasje’ for a few ‘drankjes’. See you in August!
